How to make liquid gold aka BROWN BUTTER
2 mins prep
If you’ve never tried making brown butter at home before, today is the day!! It’s so easy and anyone can do it with these simple steps. Brown butter adds a nutty, caramel flavor when used in cookies and it to die for in pasta recipes too 👏
1. Cube butter and add to a stainless steel pot or pan. Heat over medium heat until melted.
2. Use a whisk to frequently stir the butter until it begins to bubble and foam.
3. Now start whisking constantly so you can keep an eye on the color as it begins to darken. Turn down the heat to low at this step.
4. At low heat, keep stirring the butter until it is a rich, golden caramel color. The “solids” will start to sit on the bottom of the pan and separate from the thinner melted butter. Once you see these solids start to swirl around, your brown butter is ready!
5. Remove brown butter from heat and pour into a heat safe container to cool before using in baking, or add your cooked noodles (I love using orzo!) right into the pot and stir them around in that flavorful goodness.
